Brian Hall, Blacksmith

Brian began blacksmithing in 1989 at the Mystic Seaport Museum where he was able to combine his interests in handcraft and cultural history. Since that time, he has increased his knowledge and skill level through workshops and apprenticeships with some of New England’s most respected artistic ironworkers.

Inspired by the natural-and man-made beauty of the Quabbin region, Brian works in a variety of traditional, contemporary, and self-expressive styles. His current interests involve organizing individually-simple bars into complex arrangements. These works, while at first appearing chaotic, are coherently organized with each bar responding to its neighbors while retaining its own unique identity. Custom work is welcomed.
