Born and raised in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, Rebecca Mountain is primarily a self-taught woodworker. As she says, "I've just been handy that way all my life."
In 2005, Rebecca moved to the North Quabbin Region and began crafting her own unique natural wood cat trees and scratching posts, made from locally harvested trees, and using bark and natural fibers like sisal. The resulting product is a sturdy built cat tree that comes with softwood, uncarpeted base (recommended) for horizontal scratching and sisel rope- or bark-covered hardwood surfaces for vertical scratching. Upon request, Mountain can also incorporate a natural fiber- or recycled carpet-covered base.
Intended for indoor use only, these vertical cat playgrounds welcome all shapes and sizes of frisky felines and seem to satisfy most scratching and climbing urges while offering an elevated vantage point for peeking out of windows.
Rebecca likes that each Mountain cat tree is an eco-friendly alternative to carpeted cat trees and each is made from mostly using untreated wood (with or without bark). She believes this is better for the environment.
Rebecca likes the State Forests and trails of the North Quabbin Region.
