Colonial Hill Alpaca Farm

Terry Emmrich, owner of Colonial Hill Alpaca Farm in historic Petersham, MA, creates artisan products from her alpacas.  Her pieces include painted yarns, whimsical felted hats and scarves, and other unique crocheted accessories.

"I love the feel of alpaca and being able to create beautiful products from the fiber of my animals.  My alpaca items are truly green, all-natural, local artisan products," says Terry.

There are over twenty alpacas on her farm, many of which have won awards from the North American Alpaca Show, The Big E, The Green Mountain Alpaca Fall Spectacular, and Coastal Classic.  Alpaca fleece is extremely soft, silky, and magnificent to feel -- and it's warmer than wool.  Alpaca fleece is also hypoallergenic and contains no lanolin or dander, making it safe for sensitive skin.  The fiber is very strong and garments can last forever.

Terry and her alpacas have participated in many fairs and festivals across New England, including the annual North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival and Country Roads Christmas Tour.  Her pieces can be seen at the North Quabbin Woods Visitor Center and Artisan Gift Shop, the Petersham Craft Center, and at her farm located along Route 32.
