Quabbin Gate 31

Motor boat rental and launch area. Warm and cold water fish. No pets, please.

Description:

Gate 31 is one of three boat rental and launch areas on the Quabbin Reservoir, where anglers aim for a great variety of warm water fish, plus trout and salmon - altogether, the Quabbin supports 27 species of fish. Shore fishing is also popular, but casting a line is not the only pleasure here. Visitors enjoy a marvelous view of the Quabbin and may spot eagles, loons, and a myriad other birds, as well as butterflies and dragonflies. The paved road and dirt roads connecting with Gate 30 to the northwest and with Gates 33, 34, and 35 to the east and south are fine for hiking; consult a map or guide book for details.

Directions:

From Rte. 2, Exit 16 (Rte. 202), go south 2 mi. Turn left on Rte. 122. Proceed 1.4 mi. to gate on right.
